Ruben Amorim has performed down Ed Sheeran’s awkward post-match gatecrash after Manchester United’s draw at Ipswich, insisting: ‘It was nothing’.

Amorim was being interviewed pitchside at Portman Street by Sky Sports activities when pop sensation Sheeran inadvertently interrupted the reside phase.

Sheeran has since apologised, labelling himself a ‘little bit of a b****nd’ in a quick social media message, however Amorim believes the odd second was blown out of proportion.

Sheeran, a diehard Ipswich supporter who sponsor’s the membership’s equipment and owns a minority stake, stated he was not conscious that Amorim was being interviewed.

He added he had tried to talk to Jamie Redknapp, who, alongside Keane, Izzy Christiansen and presenter Kelly Cates, was a part of the Sky Sports activities panel.

‘Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, did not really realise he was being interviewed on the time, was popping to say hello and bye to Jamie,’ Sheeran wrote on Instagram. ‘Obvz really feel a little bit of a b****nd however life goes on. 

‘Nice sport although, congrats to all concerned x.’

Amorim appeared visibly annoyed by the state of affairs and even shook his head, however the interview ultimately continued after Sheeran had departed.
